1.How old do I have to be to take Traffic Safety Education (Drivers Ed)?
You have to be at least 15 on first day of class. On first day of class we will issue you a waiver to take to DOL to obtain your permit. Bottom line is: Are you ready to be a responsible young adult?
2.Do I have to have my instruction permit before I start class?
No, But we do require that you obtain it within first week of class. So you can get practice and schedule your drives with us.
3.When I go and get my instruction permit at DOL, what do I need to take with me?
A parent/guardian (if the parent/guardian has a different last name, please take approciate documents to show the relation to you. I.e.: divorce papers, adoption papers etc.
Social Security Number- this is a state requirement
Certified copy of birth certificate
Asb card or passport if you have one
Cash or check for fees
Corrective lenses if needed. You will have a vision test
Waiver stating you are enrolled in Ashland Driving School
4.How often do I drive with Ashland Driving School?
Usually once a week. You need to practice with parent/guardian in between drives. More driving the better for you and build your skills. We want you to practice what you have been taught in class, only that. We don’t want you to be driving on freeway’s....you would be surprised
5.When do I do my drives with Ashland Driving School?
Usually on the weekends or before/after school. Only in daylight hours and in two hour blocks. One hour driving, one hour of observation.
6.What if I need to cancel my drive?
You must give at least 24 hours notice or you will be charged $30.00 fee.
7.What if I forget my permit or corrective lenses for a drive?
This is considered a no show and you will be charged $30.00
8.What if I miss a class?
It is vital that you attend all classes. If an “emergency’ arises, you will have to make up that class. If two classes are missed, you will be automatically dropped from program, pay fee’s and start over.
9.Do I have to pass a test to get my completion certificate?
Yes, you have to pass written exams and also the final exam with an 80% or better.
10.Do you offer a payment plan?
No, sorry we do not. Payment must be made in full on first day of class. We accept cash or check's.
11.What are the rules for intermediate driver's license?
You will receive a brochure/booklet on parent night/first class explaining all the rules. If you have any other question please go to website dol.wa. gov
